Below are pictures taken of the Armenian Cemetery near the Ledra Palace in Nicosia.
This act of vandalism was not done by the traditional desecrators of our graveyards and historical monuments but was sanctioned as an act of “improvement” by the local Armenian Church Council.
This action was subsequently deemed to be illegal by the Cypriot authorities and the desecration was stopped.
In the meantime the bones of our ancestors lie strewn on the ground, and rubbish bags still rest on the un-exhumed graves.
